    • The marriage record does not give a surname for Michel or name his parents. The Michel Allard who was with him is named as a guardian rather than his father. This suggests the younger Michel was adopted and his birth name was unknown. The witnesses on his behalf were either brothers or nephews of his guardian, but they were identified only as 'witnesses" not as uncles, cousins or any other familial relationship, which further suggests Michel was not a child of an unwed Allard woman from the area; he appears to come from some other family altogether.
