- JEFFERSON, S.D. -- Pauline L. Allard, 94, of Jefferson passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at Prairie Estates Rehab and Care Center in Elk Point, S.D.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Jefferson, with the Rev. David Roehrich officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Christy-Smith Berkemier Chapel in Sioux City.
Pauline was born Feb. 12, 1912, in Jefferson, to Isaac and Gertrude (Crevier) Chicoine. She graduated from Jefferson High School before attending the National Business College in Sioux City. She then worked at Sioux City Milk Producers. She later worked for many years as the teller in the bank in Jefferson.
She married her childhood sweetheart, Ervey Allard on Dec. 26, 1932, in Jefferson. They immediately left for Los Angeles, Calif., where they lived until 1942. They spent the rest of their lives together in Jefferson.
She enjoyed being active at St. Peter's parish. She was a member of the Altar Society and the Mother Club of St. Peter's School, serving as president on two different occasions. Singing in the choir and sewing were also favorite pastimes. She was known as "Miss Pauline" to her many caregivers and friends at Prairie Estates and known for her "playful fingers". She loved to cook and bake for family and friends. She was a nurturing, loving person.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Catherine and Armand Choquette of Merced, Calif., and Linda and Bob Weatherly of Lawton, Iowa; six grandchildren, Steve, Lynne, Rene, Chris, Stacey and Chad; nine great-grandchildren; a sister and her husband, Sylvia and Douglas Bosse of Jefferson; and a stepsister and her husband, Madelyn and Dan Corrington of Auburn, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a sister, Viola LaCroix.
Pallbearers will be Glenn and Dale Bosse, Chad Weatherly, Chris Topf, Steve Choquette and Peter Limoges.
The family suggests memorials to St. Peter's Catholic Church building fund or to Hospice of Siouxland.
