- Allard, Hugh Neil Smitty - Peacefully at Nipissing Manor Care Giving Centre, after a long battle with cancer, on Tuesday August 12, 2014, four days before his 83rd birthday.
Predeceased by his beloved wife Theresa (nee Bedard). The proud and loving father of Debra Giasson, and her husband Robert, of Sault Ste Marie, Michigan, he will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Theresa (Raymond Burley) of Gladstone, Michigan, and Randal Giasson (Heather), of Hermantown, Minnesota, and his great grandchildren Logan, Kayla, Anden and Kane. Fondly remembered by his sister in law Monica Allard.
Born in Chisholm Township in 1931 he was predeceased by his parents Louis & Mabel Allard (nee Bethune), and all of his siblings; Ruth MacKenzie, Patricia Norman, Elaine Bartlett, Elizabeth Latour, Maxine Peever, Mary Wezse, Elmer Allard and Fergus
Allard. Hugh was a diver by profession, working in underwater construction. He worked for several companies throughout his career, including Intrusion Prepakt, in Canada, Lee Turzillo Contracting in the USA, returning to Canada to go into business with his brother Fergus as Allard Marine Industries Ltd., retiring from Hydraseal Foundation Services as operations manager.
Cremation has taken place. A grave side service will be held in the Callander Union Cemetery at a later date.
