- Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather. Born and raised in Jefferson South Dakota, married in 1951 to Mary (Ivers) Allard. Together they had eight children, nineteen grandchildren, dozens of great-grandchildren throughout their over sixty-nine years of marriage. Dean was the youngest of six children.
Dean loved the outdoors, grew up in a small town and spent summers on his uncles farm and loved being around animals. His family moved to North Seattle in the mid-forties where he finished school and began full time employment. He was president of the camera club and worked on the yearbook. Dean's careers took him from Seattle to Wenatchee and then Lubbock and a Denver suburb of Arvada, before returning home to the small town of Edmonds just north of Seattle. Dean faced and conquered many, many challenges. Dean was a devout Catholic and was very active in the church his entire life. He spoke often of his belief in Jesus Christ and lived his life upon the Lord's teachings. He was a powerful example of His unconditional love.
