    • The priest got the name of Mathias' parents wrong in the record. Joseph Demers & Julia Chaput were his uncle and aunt - not uncommon with that priest. Moved to Montana about 1889 and then Fall River, MA about 1895. According to census returns, Esther gave birth to 16 children in all but only 9 were still alive in 1910. So, five births are unaccounted for (all infant mortalities, it seems). As of 1930, language in the household was still French, though both languages were spoken. In 1930, their household included a servant named Amanda McRae, age 46, a widow who was born in Massachusetts.
