- The marriage ceremony occurred in the first chapel of Enfant-Jésus parish in Pointe-aux-Trembles. The chapel had been constructed beginning on 18 Nov 1671 and was finally blessed 7 years later on 13 March 1678. Construction of the permanent church was begun on 24 June 1705, in the summer after this marriage, but did not open until 1709. Fire consumed it in 1936 and the present parish church is built on the same site.
There was a significant age difference between bride & groom. Simon was 40 years of age and had been in the colony for half his life. He had arrived at age 19 before his wife was born. Marie Catherine was just 19½. As a dowry, the bride's father offered to lend to the new couple 2 oxen for the following month of May to help clear and cultivate their farm. The value of the 2 oxen was established at 40 French pounds (~½ ounce of gold). [4]

Notes |
- Marie Louise was the first of the family to marry; she was 18 years of age. The wedding took place in the original chapel of St-Joseph at Rivière-des-Prairies, which had been erected in 1687 by the first curé, M. Barthélémy and his parishioners. Following her early death, Louise's husband, Joseph, remained close to the family, supporting his mother-in-law after the death of Louise's father, Simon. [6]
