- The area was served by a missionary priest who was in Miramichi, New Brunswick making his rounds at the time and did not return to this location until some time after Séverin's birth. Séverin appears to have died at or soon after birth because it states "deceased" in the margin of the baptism record. The formal baptism appears to be recognizing that he was properly anointed at birth (by a Charles Dugas) , therefore, should be formally recognized by the church, whether or not he was still alive. The record states that his mother was also deceased by the time of this record, so it must have been a difficult birth. The bodies were likely buried out of necessity long before the priest arrived, so there appears to have been no formal burial records for either of them.
