- The marriage ceremony occurred in the first chapel of Enfant-Jésus parish in Pointe-aux-Trembles. The chapel had been constructed beginning on 18 Nov 1671 and was finally blessed 7 years later on 13 March 1678. Construction of the permanent church was begun on 24 June 1705, in the summer after this marriage, but did not open until 1709. Fire consumed it in 1936 and the present parish church is built on the same site.
There was a significant age difference between bride & groom. Simon was 40 years of age and had been in the colony for half his life. He had arrived at age 19 before his wife was born. Marie Catherine was just 19½. As a dowry, the bride's father offered to lend to the new couple 2 oxen for the following month of May to help clear and cultivate their farm. The value of the 2 oxen was established at 40 French pounds (~½ ounce of gold). [5]

Notes |
- Radegonde died at a very young age. She was 17 when she married and only 19 when she died. The cause is unknown, but it is quite possibly related to a difficult childbirth in the previous week. She seemed to die suddenly because, according to the burial record, she "could only receive the sacrament of extreme unction (after death) due to the illness." [3]
- (Research):The burial record does not specify just when the death occurred. Usually one or two days before burial for an adult unless a contagious disease was involved.
